Where, oh where, have I been?

Wow! I guess it’s been about a month since I’ve been on the blog.  I’ve been busy!

So, here’s a semi-recap in photos:

The next weekend was my 27th birthday, and it was super low-key, but I got this awesome gift, from my boss…nook_front view

with this cover…

In case you’re wondering, that’s a nook, from Barnes & Noble.  And I’m in LOVE with it! =.)  And, since my boss gave it to me for my birthday, Marc had to find something else to buy me!  So, we went shopping, and I picked out a new watch.  I love it, too! =.)watch

The next weekend, we headed down to Beaufort to celebrate the 4th of July with some of our favorite people!  Here we are on the beach July 4th…I’m seriously the palest person there…it’s a wonder I don’t sparkle in the sun.  Too bad I’m Team Jacob! =.)HousematesOur hostsHostsChad lost his wallet in the water Friday night…he went scuba diving trying to find it.  Seriously…he really did…Scuba Chad Then Marc & Chris wanted to learn how to scuba…Scuba Marc Scuba Chris Scuba Couple And while the boys were diving, we were hanging out on the Grady…On the Grady White On the Grady 2 And some just for fun…it’s nice to meet you…Nice to Meet you M and BTrophy And my favorite picture of the weekend…I finally got to see some of the horses that hang out on the islands on the coast of North Carolina!  I took SO many pictures, but they were absolutely gorgeous and magical!! =.)Horses on Carrot

And, you are now caught up with my life through the first weekend in July!

Since then, I have:

  1. Seen Eclipse with my girls (and my husband!)
  2. Played a few softball games
  3. Travelled with my church’s youth group as a chaperone to camp
  4. Spent some time at the lake
  5. Welcomed a new puppy to the family
  6. Played a few more softball games
  7. Helped out with Vacation Bible School a little
  8. Missed being home!

Can’t wait for this weekend…headed back to the lake and hanging out at home…it’s too hot to do much else!

I’m sorry for the long reprieve, but hopefully, I’ll be around more often! =.)

Have a wonderful weekend, girls! =.)

Ready for the Weekend!

For a couple of reasons!

1. It’s the weekend.  Two full days without having to work.  And it’s summer, so that just makes it even better! =.)

2. It’s my birthday (on Sunday)!  I will be celebrating this weekend, and I can’t wait! =.)

3. I have a new toy to play with! =.) My boss bought me a Barnes & Noble nook.  I’ve only had a day to play with it, but I’m already in love!! =.) Yay! =.)

4. Spending time with the family – celebrating my birthday this weekend, and I love it.  My family makes me happy!

5. Next weekend is a 3-day weekend!  I’m ecstatic to take a little mini-vacay down to Beaufort for the weekend.  Sun, fun, and friends, with another birthday celebration for me! =.) Doesn’t get much better!! =.)

Yay!  I hope that your weekend is as wonderful as I’m sure mine will be! =.)

GREAT weekend! =.)

This weekend was so much fun…but it went by WAY too quickly, as seems to be the trend, recently. =.)

Friday night, I headed over to help tie up the programs for Krystle’s wedding.  Holy cow, she’s getting married on SATURDAY.  I.Can’t.Wait! =.) A bunch of us ladies were hanging out at Krystle’s mom’s house to finish up the programs and some other stuff she needed finished for the reception.  Some of the Good Time Girls were there…seriously, so fun. =.) I love them! =.)

Oh, and I found my shoes for the wedding…I’m in love.  I’m not sure how long I’ll actually stay in them, though…they’re a bit high. =.) But so gorgeous! =.) And they were on sale for $20.  Score! =.)  I can’t find a pic online, but I’ll be sure to show y’all later.

Saturday, I painted my nails…they were looking rough.  Now they’re pretty, again! =.) Then, I headed to pick up KT and meet Katie so we could go to the Bridal Luncheon.  We went to the Carolina Inn.  It was my first time there.  It was really nice!  And we were in the Coral/Fish room…so fitting for the bride! =.)

After the luncheon, I picked up the dogs, and KT, Katie and me met the boys at the lake.  It was such a hot day…the lake felt wonderful!  We had a great time, and Paisley had a blast swimming and chasing waves! =.)

Here’s all the girls from the lake:

Stacy, Katie, Krystle, KT, megirls at hyco (1)

We spent Saturday night at the lake with everyone.  Woke up on Sunday, cleaned, washed sheets and towels, and went back out on the lake.  The boys were having fun wake surfing, and it was the perfect day!  The sun was out and there was a great breeze.  Heaven! =.) We headed back to the lake house, packed up and came home.

It was a very nice, relaxing weekend.  I believe it was prepping us for this weekend, which is going to be so.much.fun.  I can’t wait for the wedding!

Happy Monday, y’all! =.)

I’m back! =.)

I had a great weekend!  I stayed pretty busy, but it was slow-paced, so I got to relax.  I really enjoyed my weekend, but I missed Marc!  He was at the beach fishing, so we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together.  That’s the only downside to the weekend.

I did, however, get to spend some time with my Daddy, so I loved that! =.)

Friday, I took a half day at work so that I could go and see Allie graduate from pre-school!  She was so cute in her cap and gown!  However, I forgot my camera in my car, and I was driving Marc’s truck.  I’ll have to get some of the pics I took with Wendy’s camera, though.  Precious! =.)

Friday night, I went with the fam to see the Durham Bulls play at home.  We had a terrace to ourselves, and it was great! =.) So much fun!

Allie & her friend, MackenzieAllie & Mackensie Ava with my DaddyAva & DaddyAva with my MamaAva & Mama Allie hugging the mascot, Wool E. BullAllie & Wool EDo you see all of Allie’s silly bandz? She loves ‘em, but she wouldn’t share!  She gave me one at lunch, but took it back at the ball game.  I like them, though…might be going to get a bag for myself!! =.) Haha!

We stayed ‘til the very end of the ball game, but then it started raining.  I mean, hard.  Durham was experiencing some major flash flooding, and I was driving right through it…by myself.  Remember, Marc wasn’t with me, and I met the rest of the family at the game straight from work.

As I was driving along, being super careful and going super slow because it was raining in sheets across the road, it started hailing.  I was just praying I’d make it home.

Then it happened.  A limb/branch/tree – whatever you want to call it – fell from the sky and landed on my car.  Directly in front of my face, to be exact.  It hit between the hood and the windshield – right on top of the plastic piece that houses the windshield wiper.  You know, the windshield wiper that now doesn’t work because a tree hit it! And there’s a big ole hole in the plastic. And my windshield is all cracked.

It scared.me.silly!  No fun – AT ALL!  I called my parents to pick me up from a gas station.  I rode home with my Mama while Daddy drove my car home – probably 20 miles or so – in the down pour.  With no driver side windshield wiper. My nerves were shot.  And – don’t forget the flash flooding.  There were places with 6+ inches of water standing in the middle of the road.  So when you drove through the water, going 20-30 mph, it would fly up on your windshield so you can’t see what’s right in front of you.

Here’s my poor car…Windshield 2 Explorer WindshieldLuckily – the most expensive thing to replace will be my windshield.  That’s getting fixed tomorrow.  And Marc’s already fixed my windshield wiper.  Now…just waiting on the plastic piece.

So, so thankful for where the tree limb hit.  If it had hit any further up into my windshield, it would have shattered, and it would have caused a LOT more damage (from the rain). And, God kept me safe!  My Explorers (I’m on my 3rd one…I know!) have kept me safe each and every time! =.)

On Saturday, I spent the day with my Mama and grandma! =.) Marc and I are a part of our friends’ wedding June 12th, and my Mama’s making my dress.  I tried to find the pattern online, but it’s not on the website.  Anyways…it’s so, so pretty! I can’t wait to rock it at the wedding.  And it has pockets!!  Marc doesn’t get why I love the pockets.  Boys take for granted the fact that ALL of their clothes ALWAYS have pockets.  Girls…not the case.

Mama finished the dress yesterday, and it fits great!  Now, I just have to figure out how to do my hair to show off the bow detail on the back! =.) So pretty!

And I got to spend the day with 2 of my absolute favorite people.  It was great.  I love spending days with them. =.)

Sunday, I went to church, then came home and worked on my resume and a few other things around the house.  Softball season starts tonight (if we don’t get rained out), and I really wanted to get in some batting practice, so my dad said he’d go with me to the batting cage.  I swung at about 80 balls, and I have sore muscles, now!  I had a great time with him, though. Then, we went to dinner with my Mama at La Cocina…my favorite Mexican restaurant.  Love it!  It was so good! =.)

And while I was being lazy for most of the day, Marc was busy catching LOTS of these:Marc - Memorial Weekend2 He brought a ton home.  We grilled some last night for dinner – yummy! =.)

Monday, I so enjoyed sleeping in!  It was great!  I lounged around and was going to wait for Marc to get home so we could go shoot my new gun.  I wanted to get comfortable with it.  Well, he left and about an hour and a half into his drive, he had to go BACK to Beaufort.  So, his 3.5 hour drive ended up taking him 6 hours.  He was pretty tired when he go home.  Since I knew he wasn’t going to be home as early as expected, I went shooting with my Daddy.  It felt like an early Father’s Day because I got to spend so much time with him this weekend.  It was absolutely wonderful.

And that is how I spent my weekend.  I hope yours was fantastic, as well! =.)

Relief =.)

My doctor appointment yesterday went really well.  And really, after I got there, all of my anxiety left.  It might have helped that I made Marc go with me! =.) So he kept me distracted.

The worse part?  I had a 3:30 appointment, and we didn’t leave until 5:00.  Yeah.  I was only with the doctors…30 minutes?  The rest was just waiting.  So annoying.

But we did get to go to dinner (with the old folks) when we left the doctor’s office.

And it was yummy.  Lemon chick with asparagus and mashed potatoes.  Loaded cheese fries as an appetizer.

And the even better part…Chocolate Bliss cake for dessert.  I can’t wait to get home tonight to sneak a few more bites…unless Marc’s already eaten it all!

But back to my appointment.  Everything appears to be okay.  Now we just have to wait and see what else is going on.  Or isn’t going on?  But I’m okay, and everything seems to be working the way it’s supposed to be working, so that’s good news.

Now, we just wait.  Which, I’m not all that good at.  I should work on that?  And patience…I need some of that, as well. =.)

Hope y’all have a great weekend!  I’ve got plans for a couples shower on Saturday evening!  Here’s to hoping it doesn’t rain! =.o

Enjoy your sunshine! =.)

Anxious

I’m frustrated with myself.

See, I have this doctor’s appointment this afternoon.  And I’m anxious.  Nervous.  Dreading.it.

But, it’ll be a good thing – I’ll know more when it’s over. =.)

So, when I got to work and tore away yesterday’s scripture from my daily calendar and I saw this scripture, I smiled.

“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” – Psalm 145:9

I know that God has compassion for me – that scripture right there just reminds me of that. =.) God made me just as I am…problems, annoyances, heart, soul, mind, body, personality.  I am His creation.

Now, I just need to stop worrying about this appointment and get on with my day! =.)

“…he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” – James 1:6

I will NOT doubt God’s plan for my life.  I will have FAITH that all will work out.  I will TRUST in my Savior. =.)

I hope you have a fabulous Thursday! =.)

I’m back!

Yay!  I’m back!  Last week was really busy with work, so I’m finally getting a little breather. =.)

On April 29th, I headed down to Charlotte with one of my friends so we could fix/clean up around the house we were all staying in for Krystle’s Bachelorette Weekend.  We seriously had so much fun! =.) So, Katie H and I went down Thursday night and hung out with Grant for a little bit.

Friday, we spent just a little too much time shopping, and almost didn’t get all the decorations up.  We actually forgot some decorations, but no one noticed! =.) Our theme for the weekend was Hollywood stars.  It was a blast!  Here are some of the decorations from the house:

DSC05760 We each got personalized koozies =.) And the purple feather things are feather rings! =.) So fun!DSC05762Krystle, the Bride-to-Be =.)DSC05771 All of the girls on Friday night =.)DSC05773

We went to Dave & Buster’s and had the best time! =.) It was so fun!  And we won enough tickets for Krystle to get something from the store!  She decided we should ALL get something, since we all won the tickets, so we each received a shot glass from the Bachelorette. =.) Here are some of us playing different games…some were pretty hilarious!

We slept in a little on Saturday, grabbed breakfast at a country diner that was delicious! Headed back to the house to shower and get ready, then went back to Concord for some shopping! =.) Lots of fun and just being girly. =.)

Saturday night, we rented a party bus to take us to downtown Charlotte, since there were 9 or so of us.  Best.idea.EVER!  Vinny, our driver, was awesome!  He was rocking out to our 80s rock music! =.) Perfect!  There are picks from Saturday night, into the wee hours of Sunday morning! =.)
